Griffin June 2010 hi everyone with this problem with your boot please dont take to main dealer they will tell you its a faulty catch an 9 times out of 10 its just the fuse,so open your bonnet an look to the right an there will be a black box open that an look for the number 8 fuse an check this, hope this helps.SAY NO TO MAIN DEALERS adam March 2010 On my 05 astra design it was the no 7 fuse the red 10amp that had blown and both washer jets and boot are on this fuse even though it does not tell you this in the manual Gillian February 2010 Anyone actually know how to fix the problem. Just seems to be a list of peoples problems. Its not my fuse as the screen wash is working. But boot wont open. Niall February 2010 same problem with my 05 Astra design.Checked fuses and they are ok.Boot wont open but wipers and washers are ok.Does the number 8 fuse also work the boot as it does not say in the manual Gill February 2010 Have the same problem, garage says its a faulty boot switch cost about 54pounds plus 1hours labour for a 06 reg estate.
Been told quite common, guessing either the boot solenoid/release/switch mech or the wiring loom, but don't really want to buy either new until I can confirm which it is, as they are fairly pricey, & in the looms case, probably a bi*ch to fit! Have tried local breakers for the solenoid/switch mech first, as it's easier to try, but no luck Can anyone shed any light on this issue?
For the last 3 weeks,my boot has been getting worse. Until the point where it did not open at all. Over the last couple of days the windscreen washer/jet stopped working. So had a look in the manual, changed the fuse (10 amp, red) and now the windscreen washers/jet are working fine. Boot also seems to be working, hope it stays like this (touch wood!). Jat March 2011 Took the rubber seal off the handle, removed the plastic part that slide into a switch when pressed, put a small piece of cardboard into the switch to allow the plastic part to connect with it again.
Rob January 2010 I have a 55 plate astra and the boot was slowly getting harder to open and now it wont open at all. Vauxhall want £40 just to look at it, i'm trying to find out how to do it myself. It's not the fuse, must be the boot switch, maybe corroded or wires loose, just need to get the boot open and get to the switch to see, any ideas.
Vauxhall Astra Twintop boot. Check your manual as there may be a manual overide cable. If not it needs to go to a dealer as they have tools to release. Welcome to Just Answer, There is no manual or emergency release on the Twin Top boot catch. The only way to get the boot open when there is a catch failure is by giving the roof control unit (ECU) a command on a Vauxhall Tech2 diagnostic scanner.

There is a small rubber grommet, almost perfectly in the middle. Pop him off, and get yourself a decent size flat head screw driver. Put it into the hole, and turn 90 degrees counterclockwise Taaadahhhhh Boot opens Thanks Mike.
February 2009 I am sure you have already worked out, but this can be the fuse that also powers your windscreen washers!! Sarah January 2009 Add An Answer Form Add your answer using the form below.

I even disconnect the battery and let it reset but still the same:( Yesterday I was wiring footwell lighting through the reading lights, would that cause any current shortage? My friend said that this car might have more than one module and for some safety reason one of it cut off the power, does that make sense? Any Vx mechanics here or anyone, please help!:'(:'(:'(. Isnt there an emergency kit to operate the roof?
Reet fella tommorow check the boot lid make sure that not only the boot latch is closed check that both hinge latches ie either side of the front of the boot iuslocked it aswell as the car now knowsthat theroof is not in a knownposistion. Insert a piece of non compressible packing, I used half a match, between the cable tie and the top of the switch. Then tighten the cable tie. The packing under the cable tie provides tension to ensure the switch can't slip back.
My roof and back boot was working properly earlier, after unload my shopping and roof closed, everything still fine, few minutes later I just want a quick clean the back boot and it doesn't open, no clicking sound at all, seems like no power:o would that be blown fuse or anything else? My car is TT, so back seats are unfoldable, but there's a gap which my arm can get through and reach the fuse box. Looking at manual but didn't say anything about what fuse for the back boot, anyone please help!!!!

Well changing my boot strip today, I managed to forget to connect the boothandle and shut the boot. Went to open it and nothing. ***** myself as there is no way of getting to the where the plug goes without drilling a bit hole into the trim After a bit of searching managed to find there is a manual release for the boot, incase the handle fails, or you lock someone in the boot A 30 second job, that I wish I knew about at about 1pm this afternoon lol Get access to the boot.

Unlike using glue, the cable tie is unlikely to degenerate with age. Was talking to Vx mechanic and he reckon there has a circuit current shortage, so will go down there on friday n let the tech2 do the talk. The car will give a audible beep over 20mph if it thinks the roof has not finished it's cycle or if one of the microswitches or hall sensors are not in the correct position. If you never used the roof and the boot stopped working there's a good chance that there is a broken wire on the nearside boot hinge loom.

Any Vx mechanics here or anyone, please help!:'(:'(:'(. Isnt there an emergency kit to operate the roof? Could be a switch sticking so the car thinks the roof is down, certainly sounds that way as the ultrasonic sensors are disabled with it down, prob the heated screen too. Still under warranty? Can you see fuse 34 in teh REC? No, the roof is closed, so its lucky:) Emergency kit only for in the event the roof is unable to close and still inside the boot, so it won't help.
